The fourth trimester is a time of tenderness and equally can be overwhelming, so it is helpful to remember that you are recovering from a huge physical and emotional upheaval and it is essential to be kind to yourself and your body, utilise this special time to nurture and nourish to regain your wellbeing. Every birth is unique therefore every new mother will be respond to her experience in her own way after giving birth.

Postnatal yoga aims to empower and nurture your new motherhood role and not deplete precious energy stores. Please do not expect a dynamic practice with vinyasa flows and strongly aligned postures such as Warrior 1 and 2 followed by inversions for example, as these would not  aid your postnatal recovery.

 

During this phase, we work gently from the inside out and reset the foundation, both physical and energetic. Your abdominal muscles and pelvic floor need time to recover so they can work as a support system when the body is in motion, all whilst the production of relaxin continues to reduce and the joints become more stable.

 

Expect a kind and gradual phasing yoga practice to help assist you realigning yourself with your  ‘new normal’.  The four phases are Reconfiguration, Recovery, Rehabilitation and Rebuilding 

Your personal birthing experience and needs are highly considered, as there may be elements we need to avoid following your birth experience.

This gently phased postnatal yoga course is a weekly 1 hour class that has been designed to support you as you restore and recover post birth, helping you to reconnect with your body. The progressive sessions will release tension in the neck + shoulders, re-introduce gentle work to the pelvic floor, tone the abdomen and teach key deep-breathing exercises to alleviate tiredness and clear the mind.

REHABILITATION & REBUILDING YOGA

Upon completing the Restore & Re-balance Postnatal Yoga course we progress onto the rehabilitation and rebuilding phases.

 

This course aims to strengthen and support your body, as you create more stability and a nourishing space in the mind also. Renewing and revitalising your self-care programme. You will notice improved overall mobility and strength as you re-align the body, improve your posture, strengthen the core and lower back. An overall promotion of wellness and vitality.
